Research Specialist/Associate Research Specialist/Assistant Research Specialist

Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica (IIAS) invites applicants for a tenured or tenure-track position (including the rank of Research Specialist, Associate Research Specialist, or Assistant Research Specialist). The Institute is interested in applicants who specialize in quantitative empirical legal research. The research specialist is expected to work independently or in collaboration with other faculty members of the IIAS on all sorts of empirical research projects that apply statistical methods. In addition, the research specialist is responsible for assisting the administration of the IIAS Center for Empirical Legal Studies, including managing the websites, databases, workshops, conferences, and other events associated with the Center.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates are expected to have (1) basic knowledge about law, (2) a doctoral degree in statistics or in other disciplines of social sciences, and (3) expertise in statistical methods for empirical legal studies or for social sciences. Priority would be given to those candidates who have working experiences in empirical legal studies.

APPLICATION MATERIALS: Interested applicants should submit the following application materials: (1) Curriculum vitae; (2) a list of academic publications within the past five years; (3) a statement about research agenda and the relevant expertise and/or experience in empirical legal studies; (4) up to 3 representative articles, book chapters, or books published within the past five years; (5) a printed copy of doctoral diploma (applicants who have not received their doctorates yet will need a letter from their school or supervisor affirming that they will receive their degree by July 31, 2018); (6) applicants who have received their doctorates less than five years ago must also enclose two letters of recommendation and copies of their diplomas and transcripts from their college and graduate programs.

In addition to paper copies to Institutum Iurisprudentiae, applicants should also send the aforementioned documents electronically via e-mail, CD/DVD, or by uploading to a shared space created by the applicant (i.e. Dropbox, Google drive, etc.) and sending a direct link to the secretary.
